The 16 girls travelled to Stafford and emerged victorious from a tightly contested encounter between two well-matched sides. Chances were at premium throughout, with neither keeper really threatened, until Lexi Moss gave the West Midlands the lead with a powerful header midway through the second half. The breakthrough came as a result of a superb corner delivered by Evie Fisher and from that point onwards our girls worked tirelessly to protect their lead. Our defensive organisation was really impressive, however, and whilst Staffordshire attacked with power and pace our defence was never breached. The West Midlands girls thoroughly deserved their 1-0 victory and they are to be commended for their determination,resilience and discipline.
