Cheshire 1 West Midlands u15 Boys 3

The West Midlands’ u15 Boys’ squad got their new season up and running with a visit to Balcon High School. This match created a little bit of history as this is the first year that Cheshire have entered The Midland Counties due to the fact that there is no competition available for this age group in The Northern Counties league where their teams traditionally play. As we know to our cost there is no National Cup either, so given this opportunity to show what they could do, the home team were keen to lay down a marker.

Both teams were evenly matched in the early stages and if Cheshire had converted their penalty with the sides tied at 1-1 who knows what could have happened but Ryan Hall pulled off a great stop and his save proved to be the turning point of the match. We scored twice more to seal the points and try as they might our opponents weren’t able to add to their goal tally and our Boys fully deserved their 3-1 victory.

Well done to the whole team for producing such a quality performance after travelling so far for an evening fixture. Their work rate in particular does them great credit. Congratulations also to our three scorers, Kary McDonald, Kishan Achall and Harry Walters. Harry’s goal in particular will take some beating. Surely an early contender for goal of the season!
